The Guthrie High School JROTC program, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and other community partners host Wreaths Across America at Summit View Cemetery on Saturday, December 14, 2024. The mission of Wreaths Across America is to REMEMBER the fallen, HONOR those who serve, and TEACH the next generation the value of freedom. This community event involves placing wreaths on the graves of fallen heroes at Summit View Cemetery.

There are 1590 veterans at rest at Summit View, including one Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Oscar J. Upham. A remembrance and recognition ceremony will be conducted at “the pond” in Summit View at 11 am, followed by community volunteers placing wreaths throughout the cemetery. Mayor Steve Gentling is the guest speaker.
